Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday requested a test into the July 8, Mile 2-Ibeshe boat mishap in Lagos State, in which 16 lives were lost.
Magistrate for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso expressed that the lead representative communicated pity at the setback and sympathized with groups of the people in question.
He added that the police were testing the mishap and regarding it as a wrongdoing.
He expressed that the boat was unlicensed and disrupted streams guidelines of “no night travel” and “no over-burdening”.
“Moreover, not each of the travelers wore lifejackets and the boat didn’t take off from an administration endorsed pier.
“The Lagos State Waterways Authority, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and others are helping the specialists.
“Anyone found to have contributed in any capacity to this misfortune will certainly confront the law to guarantee that we have no such occurrences later on.
“The streams rules and guidelines are clear; they should be regarded as per the best worth that the organization puts on human existence.
“Our considerations and petitions to heaven are with the deprived families. May the Almighty reinforce them in this troublesome time,” the magistrate expressed.
